The publishers of the Ulster Herald launched a new weekly paid-for paper on Monday, covering the whole county of Tyrone.
North West of Ireland Printing and Publishing currently publishes four weekly paid-fors with a combined circulation of 42,000.
The new paper, called the Tyrone Herald, will cover the same patch as the Ulster Herald and Strabane Chronicle- which both come out on a Thursday.
Three new staff have been appointed to work on the Tyrone Herald – a deputy editor, sports reporter and general reporter.
This week’s edition ran to 48 pages and the paper will sell for 50p.
The new title is intended to have an emphasis on sport and features and be a ‘lighter’ read than the Ulster Herald.
The target circulation is between 6,000 and 8,000 copies.
` The new launch comes as work began this week on a new home for the Ulster Herald titles, next door to their current offices in John Street, Omagh.
The offices will cost £1 million and are expected to take ten months to complete.
