Travel mag adds touch of luxury

By Press Gazette

The Daily Telegraph is launching a luxury travel magazine as part of a joint venture with Nick Perry, the former publisher of Emap monthly Business Travel, writes Dominic Ponsford .

The 68-page supplement will be circulated with 600,000 copies of the newspaper on 13 November in London and the South East.

The magazine was conceived after the Telegraph was approached by Perry, who owns the copyright to its name, Ultratravel. He will sell advertising for the supplement and the Telegraph will provide the content.

The first edition features Lord Lichfield, who reveals his favourite hotels, and former cricketer Mike Atherton, who visits the Four Seasons Hotel in Provence.

Graham Boynton, Telegraph group travel editor and editor of the new title, said: “While the emphasis these days is often on £15 flights to cutprice hotels, the real pleasure of 21st century travel for those who can afford it is travelling at the front of the aircraft and being delivered refreshed into a world of calmness, smoothly efficient service and exquisite taste.”
