Top reporters in Kent honoured

By Press Gazette

Reporters from the Kentish Express and BBC TV scooped top honours in the Shepherd Neame Kent Journalist of the Year 2002 Awards.

Kentish Express reporter Jo Robertson was voted the Kent Journalist of the Year while the Bishops Finger Kent Broadcast Journalist of the Year was BBC South East reporter Ian Palmer.

Julia Rogers, trainee reporter on the East Kent Gazette series, was Kent Young Journalist of the Year.

The ultimately successful ‘Ban the Boats’ battle, which kept the Isle of Sheppey’s Kingsferry Bridge open to traffic during rush hours, orchestrated by Sheppey Gazette reporter John Hammond, won the Campaign of the Year Award.

Kevin Impey, sports editor of the News Shopper, was named Spitfire Kent Sports Journalist of the Year for a second time. He first won the accolade in the 2000 awards.
