A Daily Mirror journalist has been suspended after an accusation that he sold stories from the paper’s news list to The People.
A reporter from The People has also been suspended as the allegation is investigated.
Both titles are owned by Trinity Mirror and based at the company’s Canary Wharf headquarters.
Paul Gallagher is the Daily Mirror journalist in the frame. He won the diversity prize in the 2004 Guardian Student Media Awards and joined the Mirror as a graduate trainee.
At The People, the finger of suspicion is pointing at David Brown (pictured) — a reporter who also periodically works on the news desk.
A Trinity Mirror spokesman said: "This is subject to an ongoing internal investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
