One of the oldest newspapers in the country, the paid-for Wellington Weekly News, has joined the Tindle Newspapers group in a deal with Northcliffe Newspapers.
The title, which was launched in 1860, sells in a wide area of Wellington and the district south and west of Taunton. It has its base in Wellington town centre.
Tindle Newspapers already publishes more than 200 titles, many of them over 100 years old.
The acquisition was completed late yesterday (Tuesday).
