Times names new pair for sports dept

Tim Hallisey has been named as sports editor of The Times and Jeremy Griffin is to be his deputy.

Hallisey joined The Times as a sports sub in 1995 after 15 years as reporter, feature writer, deputy features editor and chief sub on The News, Portsmouth. He was appointed deputy sports editor of The Times in November 2002.

Griffin has been the paper’s football editor since 2002, having joined the sports desk in 2001. He has previously worked for The Sunday Times , the Sports Argus in Birmingham, the Birmingham Evening Mail and the Stroud News and Journal .

These appointments follow Keith Blackmore’s move from head of sport to executive editor and David Chappell’s move from sports editor to deputy managing editor.
