The World Association of Newspapers launch search engines project

By Press Gazette

The World Association of Newspapers is launching a project to allow mutually beneficial relationships between newspaper publishers and search engines.

The Automated Content Access Protocol will provide an automated system enabling people using search engines to recognise copyright content. They can then seek details about permission rather than being forbidden to search and index the content.

WAN and the European Publishers Council have produced a briefing paper ahead of an in-depth project proposal.
