The real story of Amadeus’s nationality

By Press Gazette

Just a quick line to correct your correction about The Observer
(Dog, 12 August) stating that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was Austrian, not
German.

He was, in fact, neither. Mozart was born in Salzburg in
1756, when Salzburg was an archdiocese following its independence from
Bavaria. It did not become part of Austria until 1816.

Hope this helps.
