The Comet

By Press Gazette

The Comet has produced a supplement looking back on the Archantowned
newspaper’s history to mark its move from Hitchin to more modern
offices in Stevenage.

The eight-page wraparound included an
article about how The Comet was originally going to be called The Sun
when it launched in the 1970s but had to change its name after being
threatened with legal action by the Fleet Street Sun.

Editor of
two years, Darren Isted, said: “The move wasn’t something we took
lightly – there’s a lot of sentimentality in the media in the area and
it was hard to break with tradition, but we had to move forward.”

The
new office is still in the paper’s circulation area and is a
five-minute walk from the town centre. The newspaper’s sister title,
the Stevenage Herald, has also moved to the new office.
