The Brewery Greene King has offered prize money totalling £4,500 to find Britain’s best writers and broadcasters on the subject of beer.
The competition is organised by the British Guild of Beer Writers and offers three prizes of £1,000 in the categories of regional, national and trade or technical journalism. Runner-up prizes of £500 will also be awarded.
Greene King managing director Rooney Anand said: “Beer is a vibrant drink with a far greater range of tastes and styles than wine – and most of it is made in this country. Beer is a drink with a wonderful, fantastic story to be told, and we want to find the people telling the story.”
There is also a £1,000 travel bursary and a trip to the Czech Republic, sponsored by Budweiser Budvar, for the best article published in English on overseas beer.
Four copies of each entry, published or broadcast in the 12 months up to 30 September 2004, should be sent to Competition, c/o Morrice Partnership Ltd, IT Centre, York Science Park, Heslington, York YO10 5DG.
