The parents of the Taylor sisters have finally decided against going to the High Court for a judicial review of a Press Complaints Commission refusal to hear their complaint against the Daily Mail.
The sisters were freed on appeal from life sentences for murdering the wife of Michelle Taylor’s lover.
The complaint, on the grounds of inaccuracy, was against an article headlined "Why I believe they are murderers", which appeared in June last year.
The commission declined to hear it on the grounds that it was made by a third party and would more appropriately be dealt with in a court.
The complainants originally adj-ourned an application for a judicial review in July on the promise of the PCC that it would look again at whether it could take the complaint in September. But the PCC reached the same conclusion then as it had done before and the threat of judicial review has now been withdrawn completely.
PCC chairman Lord Wakeham said: "I am very pleased this matter has been settled."
