Spooner to chair publishers’ forum

By Press Gazette

Jeremy Spooner, managing director of Maidenhead Advertiser publisher Baylis, has officially taken over from John Robertson as chairman of the Newspaper Society’s Independent Publishers’ Forum.

Robertson, deputy chairman of Newbury Weekly News, was the first chairman of the IPF. He is currently vice-president of the Newspaper Society and will take over from Tim Bowdler as president in July. Spooner said: “Independent newspapers tend to be very successful family businesses that are the market leaders in the towns and villages they serve. Although they may be small on a national scale, their importance to their communities and local marketplaces is enormous. Collectively, under the umbrella of the IPF, we have a vital role to play in the development of the regional press.”
