Sky News and more than 50 digital radio channels will be available live to selected Virgin Mobile customers this summer.

The new service, BT Livetime, will also offer the UK’s first electronic programme guide for mobile phones.

Customers will be able to watch Sky News, Sky Sports News and new music channel Blaze as well as listen to digital radio.

The
TV and radio mobile phone service is being piloted by BT Livetime this
summer to 1,000 Virgin Mobile customers within the M25 area. The pilot
service was announced a week after Orange launched the first live TV
mobile service for its customers, offering an initial line-up of nine
channels including ITN News, CNN, Cartoon Network and Extreme Sports.

Sky
has also launched a new service, Sky Mobile, for phone users on most
networks allowing them to access the entire range of Sky’s mobile
content, including news, sport and weather.

It is available free
for a limited period by registering for and downloading the service
from Sky’s website, www.sky.com/mobileapplication.
