The Scottish Football Writers Association has reaffirmed that women guests will be now able to attend its annual dinner.
The SFWA had bowed to widespread pressure in early January and voted 27-14 to purge a clause in its constitution barring female guests.
But it was forced to invalidate that vote when it was discovered that two of the 10 SFWA members who called the EGM were not fully paid-up members of the association when it was called in October.
This week, at a second EGM, members voted 26-20 to change the constitution and, hopefully, end once and for all what has been a long-running saga in which the no women guests policy was condemned by the NUJ and the Equal Rights Commission.
This year’s dinner will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, on 9 May.
