The Scottish Rugby Union has secured a multimillion-pound broadcast deal with BBC Scotland, giving it exclusive rights to Scotland’s home internationals for the next five years.
In addition to the recently announced deal covering RBS Six Nations internationals at Murrayfield, the agreement includes Scotland’s autumn Test series up to and including the matches in 2009.
The BBC will also cover any matches between visiting international teams and the three Scottish professional sides – Edinburgh, Borders and Glasgow. On top of this, it will now hold the Celtic Cup rights.
The BBC has also agreed new deals with the Welsh and Irish Rugby Unions to show their autumn internationals on network television from 2005-2009.
