Revolving doors: Economist Intelligent Life, ITV West, Glasgow Evening Times

By Press Gazette

The Economist’s quarterly lifestyle magazine, Intelligent Life, has appointed former assistant to the late fashion doyen Isabella Blow as fashion and retail editor. Mary Fellowes will commission content for Flair, the magazine’s newly introduced style section. Fellowes spent four years as part of the fashion team at British Vogue. Since leaving the publication she has been commissioned as a stylist for magazines including the Italian, American and Japanese editions of Vogue.

Matt Cornish has been made editor of the Town Crier series in Cambridgeshire. Cornish, 31, joined the paper in February this year from the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. He has also worked at the Gloucestershire Echo, the Hastings Observer in Sussex, and the Bury Free Press in Suffolk. Cornish takes over from Richard Yetman, who is now editor of the Rutland Times.

The Town Crier is a free paper with three editions covering St Neots, Huntingdon and St Ives in Cambridgeshire, and delivered to 47,000 homes.

ITV West controller of news and regional programmes Jane McCloskey is to become managing director of both ITV West and ITV Westcountry, which are slated to merge as part of ITV’s regional reorganisation. Mark Haskell is to leave ITV Westcountry as managing director after 15 years.

The Glasgow Evening Times has recruited its crime reporter Chris Musson as its new chief investigative reporter.

The 28-year-old is a former Press Gazette Student Journalist of the Year, and was short-listed in last year’s Press Gazette Regional Press Awards. Glasgow Evening Times assistant editor Graeme Smith is to develop the paper’s online coverage, while Alan Wilkinson has been promoted to assistant chief sub-editor.

Customer publisher Redwood has made Jane Druker as editor for Boots Health & Beauty magazine. Previously acting health editor at Grazia magazine, Druker first joined Redwood in 1989 as an editorial assistant on Your M&S magazine, rising to deputy editor of the title by the time she left in 1994 to join Vogue’s Australia edition.

Customer magazine publisher Cedar Communications has appointed former Newsquest publisher Hannah Saunders to the newly created post of new business director.
