Raworth takes Anna Ford’s One O’clock news slot

By Press Gazette

The BBC has announced that Sophie Raworth (above) will take over from Anna Ford as the new presenter of the corporation’s One O’clock News.

Following stints presenting the BBC’s Breakfast News and Six O’clock News, Raworth will begin her new role when Ford steps down in April.

Raworth said: "I am thrilled to be taking on such a prominent role. In news terms, the One O’clock sits in the middle of an incredibly busy part of the day, but I’m really looking forward to the challenge."

Raworth joined the BBC on the regional trainee scheme in 1992 and went on to be a reporter for BBC GMR in Manchester before moving to London to co-present Breakfast News with Jeremy Bowen.
