The host of Radio 2's daily discussion show, Jeremy Vine, has been announced as the new presenter of BBC1's Panorama when the show moves to a peak-time slot in the New Year.
Vine — a former BBC Lobby correspondent and Newsnight presenter — hosts the Radio 2 lunchtime show, covering a broad range of topical issues.
His work on the programme won him gold at last year's Sony awards — one of the radio industry's most prestigious awards ceremony — for speech broadcaster of the year.
Vine's appointment to Panorama will coincide with the flagship current affairs show's move back to a peak-time slot in the New Year.
After more than six years on BBC1's Sunday late-night schedule, the long-running programme — which marked its 53rd anniversary last weekend — will now air on Monday evenings at 8.30pm.
A total of 48 half-hour episodes are planned for 2007, plus four one-hour specials.
On top of his Panorama and Radio 2 roles, Vine has also been chosen by BBC News to inherit the swingometer from Peter Snow for the coverage of the next general election.
