Question of trust which the nationals must note

By Press Gazette

Another statistic from the Newspaper Society survey will be no surprise to any of the journalists working in the regional press. It’s the one that puts them well ahead of the nationals when it comes to trust. Twenty per cent of the 1500 adults surveyed said they considered the regionals particularly trustworthy.

That’s better even than BBC television (19 per cent) and BBC radio, trusted by just 10 per cent, showing clearly how much an impact the Gilligan saga has had. The figure for national dailies is 11 per cent.

When your readers live in the same town as you do, it does tend to concentrate the mind when it comes to playing it straight with the facts.
