Quantum looks at its options as VC wants out

By Press Gazette

Quantum Business Media, publisher of Press Gazette, is examining its options as majority shareholder, venture capital group ABN Amro, looks to sell its holding.

The venture capitalist appointed broker RSM Robson Rhodes earlier in the year to handle sales discussions with interested parties.

Quantum also publishes business magazines including Media Week, The Publican, Meat Trades Journal and British Baker and runs associated awards and exhibitions ranging from the British Press Awards to the Restaurant Show.

Chief executive Neil Thackray said: “There has been and continues to be considerable interest from a wide range of organisations”.

However, no deal has yet been concluded.

“It’s not yet possible to say what the construct of any deal – or deals – will be,” Thackray added.

“We are working very hard to get some kind of clarity at the earliest possible opportunity.”

Thackray has ruled out a flotation but said a sale could involve deals with more than one bidder
