Proctor to edit Bridlington titles

By Press Gazette

Nick Proctor, deputy editor at the Whitby Gazette, has taken up the editorship at the weekly Bridlington Free Press and its sister title, the free weekly Bridlington Gazette & Herald.

Proctor began working for the newspapers’ publisher, Yorkshire Regional Newspapers, a division of Johnston Press, in 1993 when he was a trainee at the Scarborough Evening News.

He remained at the paper for seven years, becoming chief sub-editor before joining the Whitby Gazette as deputy editor.

Proctor said: “It is a big honour to become editor of these newspapers.

“I’ve got a number of ideas about what I want to do here, but it will be a case of evolution rather than revolution.”

He replaces Selwyn Dunford, who retired in February.
