Pictures do the talking

By Press Gazette

Shetland-based Millgaet Publishing has launched a largely picture-based photography magazine focusing on international current affairs, writes Sarah Lagan.

Among the images captured in Pictorial Post’s first issue due out at the end of this month are Japanese ice sculptures, Australian bush fires and Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka.

Editor Malcolm Younger, an award-winning photographer, believes the title is unique in that the only editorial is the captions that describe the images.

“The concept is to let the pictures do the talking, not the words,” he explained.

“Photographers’ accounts of world events appearing in the press are rarely seen elsewhere in so much detail and quality. You could say we are on a par with National Geographic and Time, but without the editorial.”
