Pair join Elle’s beauty team

By Press Gazette

InStyle beauty editor Victoria Riedl has been appointed beauty editor of Elle.

Riedl
will be joined by Ellen Burney, from fashion bible W, who joins the
Hachette Filipacchi title as beauty writer. Both will begin their new
roles in August.

Riedl started her career at Looks and went on to be assistant beauty editor at New Woman before joining InStyle in March 2004.

Burney
is the London-based fashion and beauty correspondent for W and also
contributes regularly to The Guardian, British Vogue, and US style
magazine Nylon.

Editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy said: “This is an
exciting time for the evolution of Elle, which has undergone a redesign
in the past year, focusing on fashion. Now we will turn our attention
to beauty and run our beauty department rather like an American glossy,
using the best freelance stylists as well as our own team.”

Riedl
replaces Rosie Green, who was appointed beauty director of Elle’s
sister title Red in April. Burney replaces Sarah-Joan Ross, who was
appointed beauty director of Hachette’s B this month.
