Orange launches 3G mobile news

By Press Gazette

Orange customers will be the first people in the UK able to watch the news on their mobile phones.

The
UK’s first mobile phone TV service was launched last week by Orange
which is offering news, sport and entertainment programmes to customers.

The
news will be provided by CNN and ITN and will be available, along with
the other channels, for a monthly subscription of £10.

Available
on Orange’s 3G network, the service has an initial line-up of nine
channels including ITN News, CNN, Cartoon Network and extreme sports.

Special Big Brother and Celebrity Love Island channels have also been developed.

Orange TV will be available on the Nokia 6680, with further handsets to follow later in the year.

Alexis
Dormandy, chief marketing officer for Orange, said: “Our customers will
be the first in the UK to watch TV on their mobiles, be that CNN or 24-
hour coverage of the Big Brother house.

We’re talking to
broadcasters about new, exciting content and we’re looking forward to
adding more great Orange TV channels in the near future.”
