Newspaper journalists are the most likely to suffer bullying, according to a new report issued by the NUJ.
It is based on a survey of 1,436 and found that 31 per cent of all NUJ members complain of bullying in the work place.
This breaks down as: 40 per cent of those who work in newspapers, 21 per cent of those in broadcasting and 25 per cent of those working in magazines and PR.
NUJ general secretary Jeremy Dear said: “It is shameful that bullying is still common and that so many lives are made a misery because of it.
"The NUJ takes bullying extremely seriously and we are working hard to try and raise awareness of it and eradicate it.
“Flexible working is also something that more and more people need in order to get the right balance between work and home life. Employers should try to make it more available to staff.”
