New title covers supply of content to mobile phones

By Press Gazette

A new magazine is being planned to cover the growing business of supplying content to mobile phones.

Mobile Entertainment, which will be launched as a monthly by Intent Media in the New Year, will include industry analysis on games, music, ringtones, video, picture messaging applications, personalisation (screen savers, logos, wallpaper) and lifestyle.

It will initially have a controlled circulation with a print run of 10,000 and target all companies involved in the provision of content to the consumer.

Intent Media is a trade publisher specialising in technology markets, with titles that include home computing magazine PC Retail and the monthly title for games programmers, MCV.

Stuart O’Brien, who will become editor, was previously senior reporter for Informa’s monthly newsletter Mobile Games Analyst.

He said: “Unlike Mobile Media, which focuses on the high end of the mobile phone industry, for example, chief executive level, we are more focused at the company level.

“Having a trade publication is like putting the roof over your sector and gives people a forum to air their views.

It is very advantageous, especially in an industry that is changing so quickly. This will be communityfocused and hopefully react as quickly as the market it is reporting on.”

Also on the team is Tim Green, executive editor, who has written extensively about the mobile and games markets as a senior analyst at Screen Digest. O’Brien also said he will welcome editorial contributions from people working in the industry as well as analysts.

The first issue is due out in the first quarter of next year. The price is yet to be confirmed.
