Financial Times deputy analysis editor James Wilson has been appointed analysis editor.
Taking the helm of the newspaper’s daily analysis page, he will provide a home for special reports, investigations and longer, interpretive articles.
He said: “I had been keen to work in an editing capacity and am glad to take charge of the page.
It’s been great fun hitting all the most important stories such as the Disney takeover, which has dominated the headlines since I was appointed.”
Wilson started his career on the Westmorland Gazette as a reporter and became a sub-editor at the FT in 1997. He later moved on to become Columbia correspondent and then Central America correspondent, based in Panama.
Hugh Carnegy, deputy managing editor, said: “James’s experience as a sub-editor and then as an outstanding correspondent in Latin America make him ideally suited to editing the FT’s flagship analysis page.”
Wilson replaces James Montgomery, who has been made US news editor, based in New York.
