Mirror locked out

By Press Gazette

Buckingham Palace officials have denied there has been a ban imposed on Daily Mirror reporters following last month’s undercover investigation by Ryan Parry.

Royal reporter Jane Kerr said she was stopped from passing through the palace gates when she tried to attend the OBE investiture ceremony of David Beckham. And she said she has been barred from the investiture ceremonies of Jonny Wilkinson, Mick Jagger and Billy Connolly.

In a leader comment the Mirror described the ban as “petty, spiteful and quite baffling”. A palace spokeswoman said investitures we covered on a rota basis by the Press Association and Associated Press.

She said: “Investitures are covered by the royal rota, but where there is special interest more journalists can be admitted on a first come, first served basis.”
