The DJ who appeared in a widely-circulated internet picture with footballer Ashley Cole has launched is own libel suit against the News of the World and The Sun.
Ian Thompson, also known as DJ Masterstepz, was not directly identified by either newspaper — both of which carried stories claiming a well-known DJ had taken part in perverted romps with premiership footballers. However a picture that the News of the World had pixellated was later published widely on the internet.
He is to be represented on a no win no fee basis by David Price Solicitors. In a statement, the solicitors said: “These proceedings have been brought because the allegations are utterly without foundation. Masterstepz values his reputation as a leading DJ and is not prepared to let his name be tarnished by the claims in these newspapers.”
