Mary Wright, a leading West Country journalist and local government writer has died aged 66.
She
began her career at the Gloucestershire Gazette series where she became
senior reporter. Mary then went on to work for the Bristol Evening Post
and Western Daily Press, where she worked as a columnist and reporter.
In
1984 she moved to London and joined the Greater London Council as a
press officer and team leader. After the council was abolished she
joined Greater London Arts as a publications officer and then worked
for Ealing Council.
Since 1998 she became freelance and her assignments covered many of the London borough press offices and publications.
Until two weeks before she died she had been working as a writer at the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.

professional spirit and as a talented writer. She will be greatly
missed by all her colleagues in the media and public relations.”
She leaves a husband Maurice, daughter Katy and sons Richard, Michael, Paul, Nick and seven grandchildren.
