We can’t all be top editors or television show presenters. The rest of us have to make do as journalists on regional newspapers.
I’m
disappointed that Piers Morgan (Press Gazette, 17 June) seems quite
happy that trainee and other journalists should work for peanuts,
saying that he earned £6,000 a year as a trainee and “it never did me
any harm”.
With such an attitude there would still be corporal punishment in schools and slavery too.
Today’s trainees are tomorrow’s editors and underpaid regional hacks.
Press Gazette’s new owner presumably wants their subscriptions too.
