Gordon Macmillan has been appointed the new head of news and current affairs for Scottish TV.
Macmillan has extensive news management and production experience gained in the UK and the US, and is also an experienced programme maker across a number of fields.
He began his career at the BBC and worked as a producer in London and news editor in Glasgow.
In 1995 he was chief assistant to the managing director of BBC regional broadcasting in London – moving the following year to become a senior programme editor for CNN International in Atlanta.
More recently he was European media manager for four years for the National Australian Group, based in Glasgow, and, latterly, a media consultant for broadcasters and corporate clients.
Macmillan said: “I look forward to continuing and enhancing Scottish TV’s strong regional news and current affairs output for viewers across Scotland.”
Macmillan replaces Paul McKinney who left the company in September this year “by mutual agreement”.
