News International’s free London evening paper has revealed the names of several senior journalists ahead of its launch next month.
In addition to editor Stefano Hatfield, previously editor at Campaign, thelondonpaper’s staff will include former New York Post columnist Bridget Harrison as Hatfield’s deputy and former City AM associate editor and Daily Mirror journalist Dominic Midgley as associate editor (features).
Lottie Moggach, who has written about the arts for the Times, the Telegraph and FT, has been made arts and entertainment editor. Paul Baldwin has been appointed as news editor and James Law takes up the position of online editor.
Carrie Gorman will become style and shopping editor from 14 August. She is currently fashion editor at Bliss magazine. She will be joined by Francesca Hornak as style and shopping assistant. Hornak is currently features at INStyle magaine.
Thelondonpaper will launch on 18 September. It aims to achieve a distribution of 400,000 and will be given out by hand by 700 distributors between 4.30pm and 7.30pm. It will have a total staff of 70 including journalists.
NI's free newspaper project pre-empts the two separate tender processes for a free newspaper to be distributed using Associated Newspapers' racks at London rail and tube stations.
The process was prompted by an Office of Fair Trading decision earlier this year, which will end Metro's free newspaper monopoly at Transport for London stations.
NI remains in the race for both the rail and Tube tenders, which are not due to be awarded for several months yet, as does DMGT.
