Scottish broadcaster Jimmy Mack has died, aged 70, following a battle with cancer.
Despite being diagnosed with the disease several years ago, he continued to broadcast his regular slot on Radio Clyde until two weeks before his death.
His career spanned five decades – beginning in 1965 as a ‘pirate’ aboard the Comet off the Scottish coast.
He then joined BBC Radio Scotland before working for BBC Radios 1, 2 and 4 after a six-year stint presenting Radio Medway’s breakfast show.
He returned to BBC Radio Scotland in 1979, and The Jimmy Mack Show became the station’s flagship programme, winning a host of awards.
He also freelanced for Scottish Television and Grampian TV before joining Radio Clyde in 1990.
Mack, who was made an MBE in 1996, leaves his wife Barbara, son David and daughter Barbara.
