Indy journalists agree strike vote

By Press Gazette

Just days after Telegraph journalists decided to hold a strike ballot editorial staff on the Independent have followed suit.
The decision came at a packed meeting of the
joint Independent and Independent on Sunday NUJ chapel on
Wednesday afternoon. More than 100 journalists attended and backed
balloting for
industrial action by a margin of more than eight to one, according to
the NUJ.
They have rejected a three per cent pay offer
which they say is below inflation and does not reflect the success of
the Independent going tabloid last year.
According to management the pay rise reflects the fact that the
Independent titles are still not in profit.
The ballot process is likely to take four weeks.
