Iliffe buys Advertiser series

By Press Gazette

Iliffe News & Media has acquired The Advertiser series of Hertfordshire-based free titles from Observer Standard Newspapers. The four Advertiser titles distribute more than 107,000 copies a week in Hitchin, Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage and Biggleswade.

The papers will become part of Herts and Essex Newspapers, which also publishes the Hertfordshire Mercury and Herts & Essex Observer.

Chief executive of Iliffe News and Media, David Fordham, said: "The Advertiser titles fit exceptionally well with our existing newspaper titles in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The Advertiser has established an excellent relationship with the local property agents and with the wider advertising community, and we plan to build on that relationship.' Observer Standard Newspapers managing director Pat Bullivant, added: "With their existing newspaper titles in Luton, Hertford and Bedford, we believe the Advertiser series will go from strength to strength under the Iliffe News & Media umbrella."

The acquisition took effect from 9 November.
