Housebuilder editor is named top PPA graduate

By Press Gazette

The editor and publisher of Housebuilder Publications has received
the PPA’s top graduate award after completing the 18-month PPA Diploma
in Publishing.

Ben Roskrow was among 25 successful graduates to be given their certificates during a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London.

Roskrow was praised by judges for his “confidence, self awareness, open mindedness and flexibility”.

He
was initially reluctant to go on the course, but said that if he
hadn’t, “it would have been the biggest mistake of my life”. He added:
“The course has changed our business and what we can do because of what
we have learnt.”

Nick Brett, deputy managing director of BBC
Magazines and chairman of the Periodicals Training Council, praised the
quality of the graduates and the strength of the industry, describing
the career as “one of the most stimulating jobs you can do”.

Brett thanked Felix Dennis, chairman of Dennis Publishing, who was responsible for endowing the qualification.

Alistair Ramsay, CEO of Dennis Publishing, presented the awards.
