Hilton resigns from Nuts

By Press Gazette

Phil Hilton has resigned as editor of Nuts.

The announcement was made to staff last Monday. Hilton will remain in the role until January after which he will take a break from editing, according to IPC.

Hilton was the launch editor of Nuts in January 2004 and has helped revolutionise the men's market, alongside bitter weekly rival Emap's Zoo, which Nuts leads in sales. In the last ABCs in August., Zoo was down 12.4 per cent to 228,024 while Nuts was stable with an increase of under 0.1 per cent up to 304,785.

Hilton said: "I've had the most unbelievably enjoyable time at IPC and Nuts. It's been magazine heaven. I've had smart, supportive managers and entertaining, creative colleagues throughout my three years. After almost 150 issues, I'm in the very happy position of being able to move on while everything's going well and explore fresh career possibilities."

Eric Fuller, managing director of ignite!,added: "Phil has been a great editor for Nuts, and helped us create an incredibly successful brand, so naturally I'm sorry to see him go. But after three years and almost 150 issues I understand and respect his decision to take a break from full-time editing."

IPC said an announcement about Hilton's successor will be made in due course.
