Hi-Fi Choice highlights its history

By Press Gazette

Hi-Fi Choice has marked its 250th issue with a special edition looking back over the magazine’s 29-year history, writes Ruth Addicott.

The issue featured contributions from past editors, publishers and hi-fi experts, giving their responses to how the market and magazine have developed since 1975.

Hi-Fi Choice launched as an A5size book, published quarterly, before relaunching as a monthly in 1987. It is now published 13 times a year.

Editor Tim Bowern said: “The technology of recorded sound has seen a seismic shift since the launch of Hi-Fi Choice 250 issues ago.

“There has been the birth of digital audio, domestic integration of the PC and the unstoppable surge of home cinema changing and shaping the development of products and the markets they serve. Yet despite this pace of change, Hi-Fi Choice’s core ethos has always remained.”

The 250th issue of Hi-Fi Choice went on sale 29 December with a cover price of £3.60.
