The Guardian’s website has won the Webby Awards for best newspaper for
the second year running.
Amid much fanfare earlier this year the Guardian added the rolling blog
“Comment is free” to their web set-up. The Guardian’s deputy editor of
11 years, Georgina Henry, was made assistant editor heading up the team
in charge of Comment Is Free, in a move that editor Alan Rusbridger
said was “a real measure of our ambition for the site, and the
increasing convergence of our journalism”.
The Webby Awards is a
US-based international award honouring excellence in web design,
creativity, usability and functionality.
Established in 1996, during the
web's infancy, the Webbys are presented by The International Academy of
digital Arts and Science, a 500-member body which describes itself as
consisting of web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries
and creative celebrities.
