The Guardian has appointed Matt Seaton to co-ordinate book buying and extracts across the paper.
Seaton was contributing editor (books) at Esquire before joining The Guardian in September 2000 as parents editor, a position he will retain.
The paper has also promoted Sarah Hall to political correspondent from news reporter. She did the job from September 2000 to February 2001, covering Lucy Ward’s maternity leave.
Hall freelanced for The Times before going on a Westminster Press journalism course. She joined the Press Association in 1996 as a trainee, and worked as a member of PA’s parliamentary staff in the Commons before joining The Guardian in 1997 as a general news reporter.
Hall has covered some major stories for the paper, including the Holy Cross riots in Northern Ireland and the Soham murders.
