Granville takes new post at Oxford Mail

By Press Gazette

Wiltshire Times editor Toby Granville has joined the Oxford Mail, which is also owned by Newsquest, as assistant editor.

Granville, 31, has been appointed by editor Simon O’Neil who joined the Mail in January after editing its sister title the Swindon Evening Advertiser.

Granville joined the Wiltshire Times as editor in June 2002 after two years editing free Canary Wharfbased paper The Wharf.

He starts his new job in October, taking over from Peter Unsworth who retired in July.

Granville edited Essex entertainment title the Recorder Review for four years, has worked as a freelance showbiz reporter and started his career on the Sunday People, where he worked on the show business desk for three years.

He said: “The last couple of years at the Wiltshire Times have been the best of my career so far, and I will miss the team enormously.

“However, after 14 years on weeklies, I feel the time is now right to embark on a new challenge in daily newspapers.

“The Oxford Mail is a terrific newspaper and I look forward to playing a major part in the paper’s continuing success.”
