Gloucester Citizen shakes up top team

Award-winning
regional newspaper The Citizen, Gloucester , has restructured its top
team following the retirement of deputy editor, Bev Ward.

Assistant
editor Matt Holmes now becomes number two on the paper. In addition to
setting the news agenda daily and overseeing all content, Holmes will
also manage the editorial input into Northcliffe Electronic Publishing
as the web becomes an ever more important element in the title’s
portfolio.

Design editor Darren Powell becomes number three, with
his responsibilities being extended to take in all sections of the
newspaper.

Keith Hursthouse becomes deputy design editor working to Darren Powell.

He
will also assist commercial features editor, Chris Hill, in commercial
supplement design, as well as helping the sports staff to develop the
design of their pages.

Production manager Jeff Flower is promoted to head of production, taking over Bev Ward’s responsibilities for all print liaison.

The Citizen is the current holder of the Newspaper Society’s regional newspaper of the year award.
