Daily Telegraph film critic Sukhdev Sandhu beat Sun columnist Anila
Baig to win the Media Personality of the Year award at the GG2
Leadership & Diversity Awards Gala Dinner 2005.

B magazine
editor Nina Ahmad won the Woman of the Year award for becoming the
first Asian woman to edit a mainstream women’s magazine.

Floella Benjamin was awarded the GG2 Lifetime Achievement Award for her services to broadcasting.

Speaking
at the awards, Sir Ian Blair, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police,
said that London’s ethnic diversity would defeat terrorists. “They
would hate an evening like this,” he told the guests at Grovesnor
House, London.

“They would hate all the different races coming together.”
