Birmingham Evening Mail reporter Lisa McCarthy ended up with a front-page story when she took a trip on the city’s new park and ride bus.
She turned out to be the only passenger, enabling the paper to claim that the £175,000 scheme perhaps was not the best way for the council to spend its money.
McCarthy said the driver was grateful of the company, dropped her off outside the Evening Mail offices and even agreed to pose for a picture.
