If both Celtic and Rangers qualify for this season’s Uefa Champions League group stages, Scottish and Grampian TV channels face one of the most welcome headaches in their history.
With ITV having exclusive live rights to Tuesday night matches, the channels would beam the most glamorous Old Firm tie live, followed immediately by the entire other match as if it were live.
Should one match fall on the Wednesday, when Sky Sports have the exclusive live rights, the Scottish stations would screen a special highlights package.
The channels will use their own commentary teams with studio anchor Jim Delahunt.
Scottish and Grampian TV will be sending their own dedicated commentary team to Australia in October for exclusive coverage of Scotland in the Rugby World Cup. Negotiations are on going to sign up the commentary team and celebrity panellists.
Meanwhile, Scotsport has returned with two shows on a Sunday – creating its own world TV record.
Scotsport, launched in 1957, is the world’s longest continuous running sports magazine programme, easily seeing off stalwarts like BBC’s Grandstand.
