Food critic will host Five film programme

By Press Gazette

By Colin Crummy

The Times restaurant critic, Giles Coren, is to host Five’s new film show.

Coren will present the Movie Lounge every Wednesday, starting February 22. The show will review the week’s cinema and DVD releases and feature interviews with the stars.

The British Press Awards Food & Drink Writer of the Year 2005, Coren also writes for GQ and The Sunday Times magazine. He previously worked on Gordon Ramsey’s The F Word, for Channel 4.

Five’s Controller of Special Events, Sham Sandhu, said: “Giles is smart, funny and opinionated and is the natural choice to host this fresh new movie show”.

Coren said: “I just can’t wait to get my teeth into this show. I’m a big movie fan, but not a film buff in the nerdy sense. I’m as happy watching a baseball movie or kung fu flick as an art house film. In fact, I’m much, much happier”.
