Finance Midlands Insider relaunches under new name

By Press Gazette

Business magazine Finance Midlands Insider has been relaunched as Midlands Business Insider, writes Ruth Addicott.

The title has strengthened its coverage of the area and adopted more of a campaigning style, kicking off with its call for more investment for Birmingham’s New Street Station in conjunction with the Confederation of British Industry.

Editor Jim Pendrill said: “Transport is one of the biggest issues for anyone doing business in the Midlands today. It is important that we have more of a campaigning edge.”

The move follows the acquisition of the magazine by Newsco Insider in 2001. Under Newsco, the title has increased its frequency from bimonthly to monthly and widened its content to include corporate finance, commercial property and technology.

Pendrill said the new name would bring the magazine in line with its sister titles North West Insider and Yorkshire Insider.

As part of the revamp, the technology and finance coverage has also increased, with at least 12 extra pages on the latest business deals.

Pendrill said the result was a “cleaner, fresher read” with a punchier cover – making more impact in the regions.

Prior to taking over as editor of Finance Midlands in 2001, Pendrill was deputy editor of North West Business Insider and Yorkshire Business Insider. He has also worked on the business desks of regional daily papers such as the Liverpool Daily Post and Stoke Sentinel.
