Ex-Enquirer editor for MoS web project

By Press Gazette

Sacked National Enquirer editor Paul Field has been hired as executive editor for a web project at The Mail on Sunday.

The Associated title is to follow its daily stablemate by integrating web journalists into the main newsroom.

Field, 34, is no stranger to the MoS — having worked as news editor on the title until 2003 when he left to join The Sun as associate editor (news).

He was headhunted in April last year to join National Enquirer publisher, American Media, where he cherrypicked 22 top Fleet Street journalists to help relaunch the paper.

But Field and many of his dream team were sacked in April this year after a disappointing sales performance.

He is expected to start at the MoS in the second week of August and will work on other special projects for the paper.
