Elle Deco editor quits for France

By Press Gazette

Elle Decoration editor Rachel Loos is leaving to start a new life in France.

Loos took over as editor in April 2002 and while she hopes to freelance for magazines and newspapers in France, she said her main priority will be to open a retail nursery garden at her home in Charente, north of the Dordoyne. “It was something my husband and I decided to do three years ago. It will be completely different,” she said. “I wanted more sunshine and somewhere that had more of a sense of an outdoor life and France was the best option.”

Loos trained as a journalist on The Sun Herald in Sydney before moving to the UK and joining The Mirror in 1991.

She later became editor of Mirror Woman before moving to Company as deputy editor and joining Elle Deco in 1999, where she was acting editor before being offered the full-time post.

She increased the entertainment coverage with a new “Eating In” section and added more home and style features.
